Cassette Electrik: 'electro with soul'

In a musical style sometimes known for its coldness and lack of emotion Cassette Electrik bring a human element…soul.

Formed in London in late 2006, Cassette Electrik have been quick to win interest and acclaim among the UK’s Electro Scene in 2007. Oli Freke and Lucy Bugiel have brought their talents together to create sublime electro with soul. Cassette Electrik inject the genre with their own unique mix of melody and driving beats, drawing comparisons with electro forbears Kraftwerk, Goldfrapp and Ladytron...

Oli Freke, composer, arranger and producer, founded dance label Medikal Records in the late 90s. His release Radium, made the UK Radio 1's Essential Selection. Using a combination of classic analogue technology and the latest modern studio techniques, he creates a passionate electronic backdrop for vocalist Lucy Bugiel.

Lucy Bugiel, vocalist and songwriter, provides the luxurious vocal sound and proves that beats ain't nothing without strong and original melodies, bringing the spirit of Annie Lennox to a new Generation.

Live, Cassette Electrik are complete with guitar, bass, synths & backing vocals to provide a compelling experience for the masses.

Cassette Electrik’s first single release was the white label “A Little Respect” single. The single was re-working of the Erasure original. Oli & Lucy: “We believe that a cover should provide a fresh look at a song…We loved the original for its catchy pop vibe but this actually conceals what a bloody heart-breaking song it is; we wanted to bring out a bit more of the emotion beneath the sequins in our version.”


Cassette Electrik have a number of live dates in the UK including a date headlining the legendry newly re-opened Marquee Club in central London for their Album launch.


The debut Album, “Electromagnetic” is due for release on November 1st and is available on CD Baby, iTunes and other digital platforms worldwide. In addition, a limited edition cover of “New Life” by Depeche mode is in the pipeline...

The band are also planning to play shows in Germany and Europe in 2008.
