They say nobody writes standards anymore - songs that will speak to people years from now, that transcend genre, and that tempt gifted singers to interpret them anew.

Sisters Catherine and Edie Kuhnle write songs like that - evocative numbers that stand on their own, with mood, story, and simple words, well chosen. They seem simple on the surface, but they're not easy to sing. Fortunately, Catherine is more than up to the task with a voice described by the press as "a little touch of heaven." While Edie holds down the rhythm with an old hollow bodied guitar and adds deceptively subtle vocals, Cat & Edie will deliver you to that zone where you want nothing more than to take a seat, order a drink, and listen.

Catherine and Edie honed their harmonies and stage savvy in the clubs of Boston with their first band, Sister. In 1996 they moved to Nashville, drawn by the energy of the songwriting community, and quickly became involved in the indigenous music scene. Three years later they moved to New York City to further their careers as performers. Through the years, they've developed an appreciation for musical sophistication in all its forms: Cole Porter, Willie Nelson, the Staple Singers and Bonnie Raitt to name just a few.

They've been featured in several BMI showcases at Nashville's Exit/In and New York's Arlene Grocery, and have performed at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, Nashville's NEA Extravaganza and on "Western Beat with Billy Block." Once regulars at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe, they can now be heard at venues such as The Bitter End, CBGB Gallery, Chaos, The China Club and Joe's Pub in New York. Most recently, they opened for The Goo Goo Dolls at the Sky Bar in Los Angeles for the Democratic National Convention.

Over the years, Cat and Edie have created a seamless collaboration that is mesmerizing with its classic style and heartfelt performance. Through it all, they've developed a following that can't be pegged by age or
taste. Just call them fans of carefully crafted, timeless music.
