Catavento is an acoustic quartet based in Austin, Texas, whose repertoire ranges from Brazilian and Cuban music to flamenco and originals. The members represent various musical traditions and cultures, and the music on "Language of the Heart" is a reflection of this. Rich vocal harmonies as well as intricate guitar work and percussion all make up Catavento's signature sound. "Language of the Heart" features mostly Brazilian music, including songs by Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Ary Barroso, and others. The album also features four originals.

soulful, beautiful playing and singing with a Brazilian feel
author: George
I like how each musician in Catavento is distinct, but the members marry styles seamlessly on "Language of the Heart". These performers, led by Susanna Sharpe's sensuous and intelligent vocal, are virtuosic, sincere and confident. The arrangements are original, yet organic -- firmly grounded in South American and European pop/folk traditions. The recordings pair a "clean" acoustic studio sound with a soulful performance engagement and the result makes even a frequently-covered Jobim tune sound startlingly fresh.

The CD is both true to its roots and reaching out into
newer territory. I especially like track #4, Sattelite,
which is the sweetest love paean I have heard in a while.
