23Hz (producer, remixer, digital artist) started the CATFISH project in the spring of 1996. Linking up with the unique vocal talents of longtime hiphop collaborator Charles Anthony Reeve the experiment with the jungle blueprint began. It was the many long sessions during the 96 summer that sowed the first seeds of this incredible album.

The dawn of 1997 played witness to the emergence of the live CATFISH phenomenon - five musicians + a hefty DAT full of drums standing proud with the likes of ADF, Up Bustle + Out , Nitin Sawney and DJ Hype ...

A polyrhythmic soundscape of live instrumentation, vocals + studio technology has continued to evolve with the additions of the sharp + dynamic drumming of Alex G Lucas and the fluid engineering perfection of Andy Oakley.

It is now that CATFISH unleash their debut album.

"SUBSPACE FREQUENCIES" presents a four year progression of the sounds of CATFISH. From the early days of four tracks and W30 samplers, the music has become a deft fusion of fine art sound, atmospheric production and the raw organic nature of their full-blooded live show a unique collage of light + dark ... real + unreal ... space + gravity ...

From the electrifying moody opener "absolut" to their vENT0004 hit "Orak" , Subspace Frequencies effortlessly soars and dives its way through the sonic ether.

For this album read art sketches of a band who exist for instruments .. for sound ... for music the vibes that make their lives. Therein it stands as a tribute to those who have helped and those who have let them be. This is one of the most complete, intriguing and imaginative albums to hit these shores this year.

The band are now writing the next single - "Burning the Evidence part II - ashes to ashes" - and preparing their new live set for imminent detonation.
