If you attended the 2007 Mount Baker Rhythm & Blues Festival you want this CD. If you did not attend and you love R&B, you need this CD! From 2001 to 2007 The Cathouse Blues Band evolved from a four-piece guitar, vocals and drums blues band to an eleven-piece R&B show band featuring the tight-as-tics rhythm section, plus horns, keyboards and congas, and boasting no less than five vocalists. This CD captured the band’s final live performance, and in true Cathouse Blues Band style, band leader Kurt Aemmer put together a show that started out very high energy, and kept coming at the audience with rapid-fire blues, jazz and funk surprises. Just when you think you have heard everything this diverse band has to offer, they hit you with yet another genre or style, or singer, or instrumental soloist, or original tune. We highly recommend you buy this CD, invite some friends over, put this CD on your stereo, crank up the volume, and party!

A Modern Classic!
author: Megan
I LOVE this CD. While I usually have a preference for old school musicians---as I like the old styles (Coltrane, Muddy Waters), there is something really classic about The Cathouse Blues Band. Each and every one of the musicians and singers on this album are all very accomplished, and have roots that go way back. There is a dirty, almost Zydaco feeling to some of the songs for me, that make me think of hanging out on Bourbon Street on a hot afternoon, drinking a glass of wine when I should be working. That "nice and hot" kind of feeling. And I must say, the drummer---George Clark---is the best I've heard. I hope to hear them live and wish I could have been at the Blues Festival. The lyrics on Faith Bass kill me---a truly unique song that I love. My very favorite cut on this album is Take Yo' Mama Too. If you like good horns---these players will blow you away.
