ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
An accomplished singer and performer, Maguire began her career as a successful child star in Ireland. Upon coming of age and graduating with a BA Hons Degree in Ethnomusicology, she moved to Nashville, Tn where she was mentored as a songwriter by some of Nashville's finest writers, artists and producers. A record deal with Celtic Collections (Clannad, Celtic Woman, The High Kings) followed and resulted in the release of her critically acclaimed album 'Portrait' in 2010.

After a two year departure from the music business, she signed a deal with long time mentor and world renowned producer Cowboy Jack Clement (Johnny Cash, U2, Louis Armstrong, Waylong Jennings, Jerry Lee Lewis). She has recently returned from Nashville where she recorded an album at the Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa, executively produced by Clement and due to be released early next year.

Maguire has toured extensively and has opened for internationally known artists such as Martina Mc Bride, Randy Travis and the High Kings.

Beautifully Done.
Excellent!! Beautifully sang. I have known all of these songs for years but this CD makes them sound fresh and new. Cathy Maguire is an amazing singer and she interprets the songs in her own way. I will be buying lots of these CD's as Christmas gifts for all of my Irish friends. This is the perfect compilation of all of the Irish songs that everyone should have in their sing-song repertoire.

Fantastic compilation.
I was enchanted by Cathy Maguire's new CD Ireland in Song. Maguire captures her audience with well-known Irish songs in a radiating sound that she expresses throughout the album. Ireland in Song is a beautiful tribute to some of the most traditional Irish music and you will feel as if you are right at home in Ireland.

Ballad heavy but very good!!
Bought this after I saw her on TV during my Aer Lingus flight on my way back from Ireland. The album is a bit ballad heavy but it is the most famous Irish songs, so I suppose most of them are ballads. It is an excellent, well produced album, and her voice sometime reminded me of an Irish Eva Cassidy. One thing is for sure, Maguire is an exceptionally gifted singer and one of Ireland's best kept secrets. And she is also very beautiful, which is always a bonus.
