What would make a 6-year old boy from Michigan want to start a bluegrass band? Perhaps it was those hard driving fast tunes that grabbed his young spirit with musical excitement. Perhaps it was his prodigy talent that called his heart to a musical destiny. Perhaps it was the musical enthusiasm he sensed from his twin brother and first cousin of his same impressionable age. Whatever sparked the idea, Cats and the Fiddler was breathed into existence and seven years later, their hard work has paid off distinguishing Cats and the Fiddler as the next generation of bluegrass music.
Cats and the Fiddler have performed for hundreds of venues across Michigan and beyond alongside national and award winning artists. Their most recent venue highlight includes ROMP '08 in Owensboro, Kentucky sponsored by the International Bluegrass Music Museum . They have also performed at major bluegrass festivals throughout Michigan as well as numerous acoustic music clubs including the long-standing Ark of Ann Arbor. At every concert, Cats and the Fiddler hold the audience breathless with their knock-your-socks-off instrumentation and precision harmony vocals.
Now all at the age of 13, they have 3 CDs to their credit including their latest and best release “Road to Nashville ”. This project not only reflects their musical maturity which continues to belie their age but also their creative maturity as writers and co-writers of five songs. They are appreciative of all the wonderful opportunities that this music has brought their way and as the title track of this CD so eloquently expresses, “The Road to Nashville 's sure been good” to them.
