Album Notes

Dichotomies, the third album from critically acclaimed and universally beloved hard rock band Caustic Casanova, was recorded in March of 2006 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and represents yet another impressive step in the sonic evolution of a revelatory young band on the rise. Featuring various musical wrinkles new to the Caustic Casanova arsenal—layered guitar textures, soulful harp licks, female backing vocals—Dichotomies reveals a powerful live band hitting its stride creatively in the studio. It is the spirit of three musicians in one room working together in perfect lockstep to craft their own unique sound.

From the thunderous opening drum rumble of “Seward’s Folly,” where the primal, pulsating beats give way to bassist Francis Beringer’s stirring vocals cutting through the mix like a sherpa’s voice guiding you in from the snowstorm, to the gauzy goodbye that is the album’s stirring send-off “I Keep Having This Same Dream,” Dichotomies is thirty minutes of unrelenting passion. Just how intense a musical experience is this great album? Take a moment to envision William Butler Yeats writing lyrics for a band consisting of John Bonham on drums, Geezer Butler on bass, Junior Wells on harp, and Kevin Shields and Ritchie Blackmore on guitars. Is your mind sufficiently blown by attempting such a computation? If your answer is yes, then you may not survive this record, seeing as how the above group could not have made such a masterpiece as Dichotomies—they just wouldn’t have had it in them. So consider yourself warned. Caustic Casanova—The CC—is that remarkable a band.

Yes, it’s a fact that life is complicated. Yes, it’s true that life is full of contradictions. However, while there may indeed be two sides to all of life’s stories, fortunately for you, dear listener, there is only one album you need while sorting through everything (at least until the next Caustic Casanova release):

Dichotomies
