They've performed with numerous well-known artists, including KRS-ONE, Dres Da Beatnik, Angie Griffin, Joan Cartwright, Mr. Jonz, Free Forum Xchange, Suns, Indigo, Griff 107.9fm and they've been featured at the Great Atlanta Music Festival, Birmingham Heritage Festival, Juneteenth Festival, Sweet Aurburn Festival, National Black Arts Festival and at many venues in the Atlanta area.
They are known at the Royal Peacock, Black Lion Cafe, Apache Cafe, Red Train, Mambo Room, The Five Spot, Irish Bred and many other venues . In November 2003, they toured the Northeast in DC, Richmond, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York. In 2004 they made their way to France, Switzerland and England. In 2005 made major moves in Italy for 30 days. The Dames are on their way to Japan Nov, 2005.
For six months, Mimi Johnson and her mother, jazz singer Joan Cartwright hosted a weekly online radio show, Jazz Meets Hip Hop, on www.dr-love.com. But it was time to get on the road....
The Caustic Dames & Cartwright perform together on jazz/blues gigs and Cartwright also steps in to scat on the hiphop tracks with the DAMES. Their goal is to formulate a live band that will incorporate jazz and blues standards, originals, hiphop~soul & world.
