Yeah, good stuff for hearin, like with music.
author: Hootie HiwattMmmm... this one got the stank of fun all over itself, for sure. Man, when I play this disc all them fishies start to swimmin' all up in my heaD. It's like... it's like... I be hearin' it, but not really, you know? It's so... REAL... like it's just, sorta, THERE, ya know? Like, it's a CD, but it ain't. It's sooo good like, that it makes me wanna run down to the store and get me some tootsie rolls and just sorta lay on the ground and vibrate to the sound. Man alive!
The swaggering menace of a giant schnauzer
author: Mike Hamad...In general, the music of Bed Bugs is black and white relative to the Technicolor Sinzibukwud, Adam's first release (2004), largely because of the absence of pop-culture samples, electronic drum loops (here Yates Dew provides live drums), and a palette of guitar sounds that reappears throughout the CD, a break from the coloristic use of distinct instrument tones on the earlier album. Each song strikes a balance between guy-on-the-street pathos and progressive rock complexity. On Bed Bugs, Caveman fancies himself a hot-tempered Clark Kent, waiting for someone to call him mild-mannered so he can go Super on his unsuspecting ass...
Short, heavy and sweet!
author: Todd R. MortonBed Bugs is an example of the good that can result from CD production becoming affordable, as it has, to unsigned artists. On his second disc the Caveman dials in a heavier rock sound with the help of a live drummer and guest guitarist. The lyrical content remains "tongue in cheek" in some cases but takes a more serious turn in others. The opening track, "Torn pockets" sets the stage with a confident and cool 5-string bass groove that could easily be mistaken for Jack Bruce [Cream]. Though none of these songs lack their own identity, this entire first track could be a Jack Bruce song if the vocal were an octave higher. On track #2, "Today" we hear the Caveman's sensibility combined with an amalgam of Cheap Trick, King's X, and Foo Fighters. This song includes one of my favorite lyrics on the disc, which starts "I lost my God damned job today..." and concludes, "but lovin' you was work enough." The entire 35 minute disc remains in keeping with the scene set by the first two tracks. From the 16th note groove and controlled noise floor of "OCDC" to the Zappa-esque submission on personal hygiene of "Your grill", this CD will keep you entertained and tapping your foot. The final song, a dark comedy called, "The truck" is a Floydian acoustic farewell sure to cause an emotional disturbance. But hang out for the bonus track and you'll be right as rain.
Caveman conforms to nothing but his own musical ideals.
author: Yates Dew"Shying away from even being heard except by the closest of friends, Caveman conforms to nothing but his own musical ideals. Bedbugs takes large steps both forward and sideways, building upon the best ingredients from projects past. This CD is instantly likeable, however, like his previous release, it continues to further seep its way deeper into my brain with indelible ink upon every listen. Caveman has the uncanny ability to be refreshing, melodic, mathematic, heavy, frivilous, seedy and knock-down hilarious in one mouth-watering bite."
