The Chicago Blues Angels was formed by Armando Cortez (guitar) and Dave Gonzalez (vocals/harmonica) during the summer of 2000 and joined by guitarist Kate Hoddinott. Their mutual blues influences (Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Little Walter, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Magic Sam, Muddy Waters, Eddie Taylor, James Cotton, among many others) fueled the motivation to start playing together in and around Chicago.
James Porter, a writer in the windy city for the Illinois Entertainer & New City, says of the CD: "It's enough that the whole band can burn, but then there's Dave Gonzalez and Herman Hines singing their asses off, too? Too much sugar for a dime!"
