After performing together as a duo for the past decade, electric bassist Chuck Bianchi and acoustic guitarist Jerry Preston have released their debut outing, Dreaming Out Loud. This recording is a collection of nine original compositions: four solo bass pieces, three works for acoustic guitar, and two duets. With his 5-string Zon, Bianchi, a Berklee graduate, utilizes altered tunings, two handed tapping techniques, harmonics, and chordal work to create dynamically rich, multi-layered voicings that are both technically intricate and emotionally expressive. Preston, with his own unique and unconventional approach to acoustic guitar, presents the listener with a repertoire full of complex, yet melodically sensitive pieces. Together, Bianchi and Preston compliment each other's creativity with beautifully arranged harmony and interwoven melodies. Bottom Line: On Dreaming Out Loud Bianchi and Preston aren't afraid to push the boundaries of conventional thinking. Searching, challenging, and inspiring best describe this project.

Working together as a duo, Chuck Bianchi and Jerry Preston have created a truly beautiful musical statement here. These two melt together so well as instrumentalists that one is hard-pressed to find where one's range and musical style begins and ends. They come across as one player, one instrument. That is truly the goal it the first place, isn't it. To place the song first and the egos and technique a distant second. And they pulled it off!
Who do they sound like? Names like those of the 'Two Michaels', Manring and Hedges, come to mind first and foremost. Describe their music? Picture a late spring morning, full of promise. It is impossible to be anything but happy listening to this one. A fine piece of craftsmanship that can't be played once and replaced.

Acoustic guitarist Jerry Preston and bassist Chuck Bianchi mellowed our frantic office nicely with the gorgeous essence of their debut CD, Dreaming Out Loud. The instrumental sounds reach a whole new level, influenced by such greats as Michael Hedges and Victor Wooten, and take the listener to a place of comfort and retreat. If the world heard this treat of a disc, maybe it too would be in a calmer state.

With a progressive and impressive sense of adventure and artistic dexterity, the dynamic duo of acoustic guitarist Jerry Preston and bassist Chuck Bianchi lay it out gentle and dream-like. The intertwining of their roving melodies sound deceptively simple and beautiful. Preston and Bianchi approach their instruments with a felicitous, thorough determination that produces a plethora of styles and tonal colors through their deft use of harmonics, two-handed chordal tapping, altered tunings and various percussive techniques.
Together for 10 years, Preston and Bianchi have nailed it down digitally on the self-released Dreaming Out Loud, so we can all go down slow. "Peaceful" may not be exactly the right word, but it's the first one that comes to mind.

Absolutely love it

This CD is just amazing. Its the type of music that no matter what mood I'm in I can listen to it and feel 'recharged'. There are no vocals which I like, the songs are therefore up to your own interpretation as to the message it gives. I have listened to it 3-4 times a day and play it all night since I've got it. It's one of those cd's that stays on the stand next to the cd player and never quite makes it to the cd rack. Can't say enough. I just love it.
