Bay Area Hawaiian Musician Creates Niche with Debut CD
Carey Camacho, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most accomplished and talented young Hawaiian musicians, makes his long-awaited debut on "Project CKC, Backdoor Ki ho'oku'u." This album only begins to demonstrate the ingenuity of this versatile artist.
Carey is no stranger to Hawaiian music. His unique blend of family-bred musicianship, technical education and self-taught innovation spans decades of Hawaiian music's evolution. Complementing many different influences with his own personal experience and emotions, Carey has developed a style of Ki ho'oku'u (slack-key guitar) which is all his own.
This recording project weaves through musical threads of time with its original compositions and arrangements. The completed tapestry will blanket the listener with the warmth of afternoons in the back yard, secret intimacies and radiant island sunsets.
In addition to Carey's musical talents, he also displays his technical expertise as solo producer on this project.
This album is the first of a series of planned releases which will more fully demonstrate this "range of musical motion from an innovative artist of unrestrained talent - Carey Camacho" . . . 'E uhi wale no 'a'ole e nalo, he imu puhi' The secret will get out . . .
