This new CD by "Cece and Me" I do believe is the best of the Gospel folk that we are known for, with 50 minutes of soulful sax and harmonica, lilting flute, finger and flat picked Folk, Folk-country, Folk-Jazz styles, there is a spacious variety of sounds that your ears won't tire of. My favorite track is #8 Moses Moses which Courtney (our sax player) turns into a six and a half minute folk-jazz harmonica-sax duel. My second favorite is track #11 Sanctified Boggie which reminds me a little of Dixieland Jazz. The title song #9 adds a little comic relief to the CD. I pray that you be moved by the music and touched by the lyrics.
Though I have played guitar since I was ten, it is only in the last 10 years I started performing & writing. I released 2 CD's as a solo performer, "No Hope but for Jesus" was released as first a cassette (remember those?) & then a CD in 1999, & a live album, "Live in Paradise" was released in 2000. “No Hope but for Jesus”, was recorded in analog, on a 4 track Tascam. I later transferred it to a DAT & made a CD. A lot of people listened to & really enjoyed that CD. When something on a CD touches someone's heart, it inclines them to hit the play button again and again. A CD should be (and the best ones are) something that takes you somewhere that you want to (or need to) go. It leaves you with something good that you didn't have before you put that CD in. It is my prayer that my CDs will leave you knowing Jesus just a little better that before you listened to them.
When I was recording the CD, "All You Ever Meant", my 3rd, many people told me that some female backup vocals would add a lot. Bernadette was singing with me in the church band, so I asked her to sing with me on the CD too. I didn't even know what she sounded like by herself, I just knew that many of the singers listened to her to get their pitch. Recording "All You Ever Meant" was the first that we sang together. It was released in 2001. After that I started asking her to come with me to some of the coffeehouses that I was singing at. Then Bernadette dusted off her flute and she came up with the name PBforJ (Paul & Bernadette for Jesus).

The CD, "As a Child" was my 4th. Bernadette sang on every song. She has an excellent range & can often sing both low & high harmonies. Besides my guitar, harmonica, & mandolin, & Bernie's flute, most songs have multiple tracks of Bernadette's harmonies. Ken Grossinger plays stand-up bass excellently (though barefoot, you can't smell his feet on the CD), & John Kiefer throws in some well placed percussion, & an opening laugh. Most of it was recorded in 2002.
The band looks a little different today. Ken and Bernie are no longer with the us. I married my new bass and mandolin player, back-up singer, and assistant roadie, Cece, July 23rd ,2005 and John Kiefer sometimes joins us on percussion. We have a new CD out that I think is the best yet, "Wish I Had a" by Cece and Me. We now go by the name Cece and Me. Our web site can be reached by going to: www.CCandMe.com, www.CeceandMe.com, www.PaulEllingsen.com or www.PaulandCC.com or www.PBforJ.com. Our my space page is: www.myspace.com/PaulandCC
My prayer is that you will not only enjoy all of these CDs but that they will bring you a little closer to knowing the one who died on the cross & rose again to pay the price for your sins. His kingdom is open to anyone who will turn to Him, ask forgiveness & not be ashamed to call Him their Father!! Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV) Halleluiah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God bless,
Paul
