Ceiltis is a compilation created by dedicated ACS members to celebrate An Claidheamh Soluis/The Celtic Arts Center's 20th Anniversary and to honor the musicians and singers who have graced us over the years with their magic.

All proceeds from sale of this CD benefit An Claidheamh Soluis/The Celtic Arts Center and it's continuing mission "to preserve and promote the cultures and languages of all the Celtic nations." The Celtic Arts Center is a federally recognized 501c3 non-profit arts organization.

†Here is a band very dear to the Celtic Arts Center, since two of its members kind of grew up at the Center's famous Monday Night Seisiuns - the longest-running Traditional Music Session in Southern California. The Rainy Day Set is both lively and piquant.

*"Time After Time," a music and photo essay on DVD that Ms. Sullivan made with her husband Ben Kettlewell, was selected for the opening and closing ceremonies at the UN Conference on Global Warming in Montreal in December, 2005. Maireid Sullivan, a native of Ireland, appeared often at the Celtic Arts Center when she lived in Los Angeles. Now she lives in Australia.

††Songwriter Robert Emmet Dunlap - now living in his native Boston - is a former member of The Celtic Arts Center here in L.A., and was among the founding members of The Twilight Lords. His "Mick Ryan's Lament" is here stirringly sung by Twilight Lords lead, Dublin-born Ken O'Malley, balladeer and former Music Director at the Center, also known as 'the Voice'. Ken has a huge and enthusiastic following in Southern California and elsewhere. He is also a brilliant songwriter.

**Stephanie Bennett is a world-class harper and a gracious performer.

†††Craicmore's famous song about the seductive powers of oatmeal, which apparently is an aphrodesiac in Scotland, but nowhere else. John McAdams and Nancy Johnson form the core of this Southern California Celtic band, which has been around almost as long as An Claidheamh Soluis.

***Kris Colt's amazing voice is a misture of American Country and Sean Nos. Her interpretation of this song is unique also.

††††Ms. Mahoney shared an Emmy Award for her performance of the theme to Yesterday's Children (a made-for-television film) "A Dream Only I can Know" which was written by Patrick Williams, with translation assistance by Sean Aherne, who teaches Irish Language at The Celtic Arts Center.

****The Wicked Tinkers have been knocking us out with a 'wall of sound' Phil Specter could only imagine and never match. To prevent injury, they have been known to distribute ear-plugs at their concerts.

††††† Kathleen MacGowan - acclaimed author of "The Expected One" - wrote this for her husband, Peter MacGowan, lead singer and guitarist of Finn MacCool. It's not just cool - it's Finn MacCool

***** The Fenians' motto is 'Have Fun or Get Out!' and hardly anybody ever leaves. Here's their Token Whiskey Song (somebody ought to say something good about whiskey).

††††††Susan Craig Winsberg's career began in classical music. She left the orchestra for traditional music. In this piece, she accompanies Kathleen Fisher's passionate version of this favorite.

    My hat's off to Adrien Rain Burke. She has produced a CD that is truly representative of what the Celtic Arts Center Is. wide variety of talented musicians and singers, from seasoned veterans, to young, up and coming new talent, and knowing that most of them learned their craft by playing at the Center makes it that much more impressive.I personally invite you all to come and join us on a Monday nite where you can hear ,live many of those who are on the album

    After listening to Ceiltis I was able to discard my crutches, eyeglasses, and Viagra. It cured my chronic dandruff, as well. I certainly hope there's a followup CD!

    Strong performances by excellent performers, both vocal and instrumental. Though leaning mainly towards the modern fusion genre, there is something for almost every Celtic taste in this compilation, and the proceeds are going to benefit a good cause - the Irish Arts Center in L. A.
