Album Notes

WHO IS THIS CELIA?
Celia is a cross between The Celtic Woman and Gilda Radner! Her silky voice will transport you to other lands and her live shows (filled with humor and quick changes) will leave you healed with the nectar of heart opening joy. You never know what Celia will do next.

"Celia is a Bright Light with strong Songwriting and a voice to Die For" Shawna Carol, Goddess Chant.

California Ireland (Celia): I wrote this song after I visited Pt. Reyes Station in Northern California. Tommy Makem had such a strong sense of "place". I included this song in honor of him leaving his homeland for America.

I'll Tell Me Ma (trad): I loved this song growing up. It is so catchy and upbeat. It still makes me smile.

Little Broken Wing (Celia): When I found out that Tommy had passed I was reviewing his affect on my life and I remembered an experience I had had outside of his pub in NYC. I really did name the bird Tommy. And it really did break my heart to let him go. I always wanted to tell Tommy Makem this story. I wrote this song specifically for this album and in Tribute to the great affect Tommy had on so many of us...even the winged creatures.

Carrickfergus (Trad): What an incredible song. Many of my fans have suggested that I record "The Water is Wide." This is very similar but I feel it more readily taps into the old weary traveler and truly speaks to my Gypsy Spirit.

Gorgeous, moving rendition of much-loved Tommy Makem songs (mostly traditional, some he wrote, some Celia wrote). A couple of the songs were recorded in an empty farm silo in Wisconsin. What a beautiful quality that added to the sound and the feeling of those songs!
