BIOGRAPHY
CELINE CARROLL'S music has been described from Soft-Jazz to Damn Fine Acoustic Soul. An accomplished Singer/Songwriter,guitarist,pianist,she simply writes songs that suit everyone. Onstage she delivers a live acoustic performance of groove, dynamics, passionate lyrics and melody-driven songs with her band.
CELINE will tell you herself that her biggest influences are Paul McCartney (I bow to you Macca, O Holy One), for his gift of melody, Dusty Springfield, for her gift of Soul and Elvis for his gift of Hips!!
So what you get from CELINE is Melody-Driven Music all the way. With buckets of Soul and thought-provoking lyrics, she is a songwriter who will draw you in on the opening chord.
Celine Carroll is a singer, a songwriter and a musician from Dublin, Ireland.
With a back catalogue of over 200 songs behind her, Celine has two albums to her credit and is currently working on her third.
Having served her time in various bands, including the acclaimed Mississippi Mermaids, Dubliner Celine now swims in solo waters, paddling a brand of thoughtful melodic songs.
Her first album, ''Catch You As You Fall' contained 10 self-penned songs and was produced by Declan Sinnott. This album harvested a wealth of subject matter from the loss of innocence to sitting on the fence too long!! This album also provided Frances Black with a song, which became the title track of her album, Don't Get Me Wrong' during her brief departure from the folk scene.
Celine's second album entitled 'Itch' is a collection of 10 original songs which take the listener on a complete musical journey that encompasses the highs and lows of love, loss and longing via a collection of catchy choruses and hang-your-shirt-on-them hooks. As well as writing all the tracks, Celine also produced the album.
As a pianist and guitarist, Celine has written many songs with various artist and writers including 'Happy on the red' with Swedish artist Annika Fehling, the title track of her 2005 album.
Having honed her stage craft with many high profile support slots in Ireland and many performances in Chicago and Nashville, Celine can be seen playing regularly around Dublin with her own band.
WHAT THEY SAY....
Having had a sneak preview of 'ITCH', I reckon it's shaping up as a real thing of beauty, with musicians of the calibre of Jerry Fehily and Maire Breathnach lending a hand.
Carroll has a well-traveled voice, full of emotion and warmth, and through the use of delicious harmonies in tracks like the thoughtful and deliberate 'Grey Sky Blue' she really comes into her own.
'Itch' has a cool swagger through its opening bars that alternates with a soulful catchy section that turns infectious in a jiffy, and receives further uplift with Breathnach's cool viola.
'Home' is more uptempo than either, with echoes of Fairground Attraction and Beautiful South. A real gem. We don't really need another singer-songwriter, but when they're this good, you just have to rearrange the furniture and make room.
