Album Notes

Started by film and theatre composer drew Edwards, this Brooklyn, NY band's debut is a moody collection of wistful, anthemic, hook-filled songs resonating with New Wave elegance, lyrical songwriting, and piano driven melancholy.

Fuelled by the infectious catchiness of "boy wonder" and the soaring, dance-inflected "here i am again", "l'esprit" continues to be one of the best-kept underground pop music albums of the last two years. This bold effort, produced in Edwards' home studio, displays a keen intelligence, and a popularity that has spanned from California to Great Britain. Destined to be an underground classic, your CD collection is hungering for this indie-pop gem.

Available at iTunes, Rhapsody and many other digital music retailers!

REVIEWS

a beguiling blend of innocent sexuality and wise world-weariness

With hooks-heavy songs like "boy wonder" and "something that happens," cellar door's debut album might as well be titled their "Greatest Hits," but something tells me that the delicious lyrics and sensual melodies of cellar door will only grow stronger with each new release. Drew Edwards can move from the role of wide-eyed innocent to restless cynic within a phrase and the layers of his music never fail to support the shifts. "newkirk ave." and "new boy" are also sure to please those who prefer their pop intelligent but sing-along ready.

hmm, what can i say about this album? it's the type of record that you fall for immediately upon first listen. at times rekindling the 'kid a' flame from a few years back, but more frequently it parallels the emotion of the postal service's 'give up' or the doves' 'lost souls'. drew's voice is sweet and compliments the melodies on the album perfectly. lastly, 'boy wonder' is sure to become an anthem in months to come...sincere, relevant and catchy as all hell.
