An excellent interpretation of an ancient Cornish myth
As a Cornishman living in my home Country of Cornwall (or Kernow as we Cornish speakers call it) I was pleased to obtain this CD. I have studied the distinctive history and mythology of my homeland for many years and the legend of Tristan & Isolde is well known to me. Matters Cornish are a rising force in British & European culture as Cornwall moves towards devolved government. This CD enhances that distintinctiveness. Thankyou !

Celtic Legend weaves a haunting and melancholic tapestry.
The strongest part of this record is the excellent musicianship. Celtic Legend knows its traditional instruments, and the melodies composed to illustrate the Tristan and Isolde tale benefit from this talent. The Vine and the Rose is the most haunting of the tunes. Female vocalists Dominique Adam and Tina Leppard are particularly strong throughout, often overshadowing the male voices -- except Arthur Brown's majestic turn on Kings. The instrumental CD doesn't add any bells and whistles, but is a straightforward repeat of the music without vocals. And that's what one carries away from a listen of this recording -- the melancholy music. Interestingly, Celtic Legend has re-recorded the entire CD (also available on CDbaby) with a much more sprightly feel.
