Everybody’s talking, or will be talking of her and her songs. Singing all that is lovely,singing some that goes painfully reaching for the deepness in the human heart. Singing in all the magical, mystical concept of love as it touches the Filipino.

She is Cely Bautista. And she is a whole singing of love as celebration, as commiseration.
For she knows her sound of music: one frail female voice haunting on with a vision in the night of a despairing mind. And nothing crystallizes this quality of her singing better than the song “Walang Kapantay” , that classic Filipino hit of the 70’s written by Don Manolo Villar Sr. which catapulted in a quick the name of Cely Bautista into the well-honored roster of contemporary Filipino kundiman singers. Soon she assumed her place in Philippine music. She was to become a favorite duet partner for such kundiman greats like Ruben Tagalog, Tommy Angeles, Diomedes Maturan, Bobby Gonzales, Cenon Lagman and Ric Manrique Jr. Later she was dubbed as “Queen of the Jukebox”.

What followed soon after was her continued move into the limelight of musical entertainment. And perhaps she rightly deserves her stellar place, first as a solo artist and next as a member of the distinguished 8 that blend to become the prestigious Villar kundiman group, The Mabuhay Singers.
