Gothic-tinged doom / death prevails on this debut from Century Sleeper. Featuring Ian Arkley of UK-based death / doom band My Silent Wake and James Allin of US-based death / doom band Visionaire, Century Sleeper cleverly blends influences from both collaborator’s respective bands. It features brooding, haunting, dark and gloomy melodies layered upon the crushing sounds of death and doom metal. Awaken contains 11 very long songs that should appeal to fans of bands like Type O Negative, My Dying Bride, Celtic Frost, My Silent Wake, Visionaire, and all lovers of goth, death, and doom metal.

goth-doom. very thematic, as good metal should be. all in all i thought it was a good cd. definetly a scandinavian influence.
