Album Notes

Cerro Negro is based in San Diego CA and has toured relentlessly for 6 years throughout the entire United States. The group has made fans from Hawaii to Boston to the Gulf of Mexico and all points in between. Cerro Negro has 3 major CD releases Cerro Negro: Flamenco Y Rhumba Nueva, Corazones Locos and Where in the world? The last of which was released in June of 2002. Cerro Negro includes lead guitarist Dusty Brough, rhythm guitarist Frank Giordano, and percussionist John Martin III. Brough is an exciting young guitarist who is captivating audiences with his virtuosity. Giordano is both a guitarist and keyboard player, performing various Styles of music. John Martin III has two Bachelors degrees in music and tremendous live performance experience both in the United States and internationally.

Cerro Negro customizes their performances to reflect the atmosphere of the event. From concert stages to elementary assemblies, corporate events to cultural centers, Cerro Negro pulls from their unique musical palette for each individual show evoking a spectrum of sounds and styles that resonates with numerous demographics.

Cerro Negro classifies itself as "Global Flamenco Fusion". Their style is created by their unique coupling of traditional elements of Flamenco with an exotic Caribbean percussion blend of Congas, Cajon, Djembe, Clave, Palmas and passionate vocals.

The new CD is the first with our new guitarist Dusty Brough. The songs on this album are more adventurous and sophisticated than much of our previous work, yet at the same time contain a sprinkling of musical humor.

It 's our honor to have several of our good friends join us on this project. Jason Jurzak and Nate Kentner, who have a wonderful duo of their own, added their artistic friar to the project by playing basses and woodwinds (respectively) on some of the cuts.

We're pleased to introduce a debut performance by vocalist Ida Aghamalian. Ida draws the listener in with her haunting vocal qualities sung in Persian.

Two of our new tunes feature harmonica master, Eddie Gordon. Eddie plays on "Space" and "Down low" adding his unmistakable feel and musicality to our work. He's a legend in the business and we're very fortunate to play our music with him.

Where in the World is our longest and most diverse work to-date and includes styles ranging from Flamenco to Blues and Middle-Eastern to Django Jazz. There are also a few hidden musical gifts on the CD. Some of our listeners have been asking about the environmental piece hidden in the middle of the album. This piece is all man-made using bird calls, percussion instruments and human-created sounds. We hope you love it as much as we do.
