John Chambers flunked out of the University of Colorado and graduated from the University of Texas. He’s lived on the shores of the Pacific Ocean and in the dusty countryside of the Texas panhandle. He’s written for Emmy award winning shows in Los Angeles and worked as a day laborer in Austin’s hundred degree heat. John’s been on both sides of heartache… many times. And through it all, his sense of humor and his acoustic guitar have been with him. Now because he’s not one to take himself too seriously, John’s put his life into the songs on Simone. Simone’s sometimes haunting, but always groovin’ music is so full of pleasurable little nuggets, that even though you feel the heartbreak on such tunes as “Virginia” and “Driving In The Rain”, you can’t help but smile at the optimistic foresight John brings to it all. John’s song-writing, instrumentations and bare-vocals have been mentioned in sentences with such luminaries as Jerry Garcia, Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon. If there ever was a band of gypsies, the John Chambers Band is it. Band mates Brian McRae, Richard Bowden, Todd Caldwell and Maureen Murphy, an eclectic mix of artists, each with their fair amount of life’s damage, only share in John’s desire to have fun.
