Chance coalesced in Los Angeles, CA, a joining of two musicians with wildly diverse backgrounds. Their music is a hybrid of R&B, jazz, and classical influences and training. Vocalist Cheryl Leah has recorded and performed with jazz legend Miroslav Vitous and singing legend Robert Goulet. Ed Willett has recorded and performed with many wonderful artists, including Lalo Schifrin, John Williams, Herb Alpert and many more. Chance now is a long standing part of Tent Show Radio, from the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua's concert seasons and touring. As a part its Blue Canvas Orchestra, Chance has participated in opening for Willie Nelson, Howard Levy, Smothers Brothers, Little Feat, Bill Miller, the Wailin' Jennies, and this year for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Los Lonely Boys.
The discovery of a new sound in music involves a dynamic process which can’t be calculated, manufactured or even understood. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, critics and colleagues sit up and take notice.
“In any of these myriad combinations, their playing was always polished and passionate. By the end of this musical treat, every audience member had learned one thing - taking this CHANCE was no gamble!”
Greg Hettmansberger - Los Angeles Times
“There’s nothing haphazard in the hot songs and vocals of the band CHANCE. They deliberately and consistently capture a wide audience from teenagers to grandmas with their humorous, imaginative songs, upbeat melodies and unusual instrumentation… CHANCE strikes a universal chord with people partly because they sing about dramatic, often humorous images.”
