Who Is chiccy baritone??

Not content with being the last in line… “Chiccy Baritone” has strategically moved her way to the front of the line where she maintains a strong presence. Introduced to the poetry circuit in 2001 and affectionately named, “Chiccy Baritone”, by her best friend, Charlene Evans lives up to the full meaning of her stage name. Chic, well-put together (spiritually and emotionally), she is a woman who uses her deep alto voice to share her life stories in poetry form with much authority! Charlene admits it took time for her to appreciate this unique identifier but now feels that it fully captures her personality and her work. Her work can best be described as spiritually ground, filled with real life situations and God-filled solutions. Chiccy Baritone uses her past, present and spirit to reach all genres of people because her life hasn’t always been a love poem and she hopes to provide listeners with hope and encouragement.

Residing in Greenville, SC, Charlene still considers her birth place, Columbia, SC, home. Awarded a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from South Carolina State University, Charlene moved to the Upstate to begin her journey into adulthood. Working in corporate America, Charlene uses her experience, skills and voice to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Since her entrance onto the poetry stage, Charlene has received a great deal of attention. After the release of her first CD in 2004 titled,” Next In Line”, Charlene was featured on the front page of the Lifestyle Section of the Greenville News in the August 2, 2004 edition. In a follow-up article, she was featured in a Greenville Magazine article, titled “Young, Gifted and Black -16 African Americans changing the face of Greenville”. Her alma mater, South Carolina State University, soon after, featured her in the 2004-2005 Winter Edition of the SCSU Review in an article titled, “Distinguished Alumni Under 40.” Her recognition includes also being named the “Best Newcomer Poet of 2005” by the Las Vegas Poets Society in Las Vegas, NV. Filled with a resume of testimonies, she definitely has more than enough “life” in her to bring to the table and the stage in her very youthful age.

Currently on the table, Charlene is “serving up” large portions of community service and continuation of several projects. Involved in organizing a poetry workshop for inner city kids titled, “Art is Poetry and Poetry is Art”, Charlene will express the broad and beautiful spectrum of poetry from the Bible to the streets. In addition, currently in the planning phase, a future theatre production project to combine spoken-word with props, actors and a live band performing original works from her first CD, “Next in Line”. Also, in preparation for the release of her much anticipated second CD, Chiccy Baritone will be sharing her new work that she has completed within the year.

If you are still asking, who is Chiccy Baritone and what does she represent? ... Let my work speak for itself!

Peace & Blessings,

Chiccy Baritone
“poetry is life, chiccy baritone speaks life, and what is life or chiccy without poetry?”

I purchased one right after hearing her perform less than a year ago, I had to purchase more copies because everyone I let listen to her, want to 'borrow' my copy, so I let them have it and just get another one for me. Y'all need to add some more stars if you really want to rate this CD accurately!
