Charlene has been fascinated with being a solo musician ever since she was a kid. She has been destiny to be a musician and has been accepted by many because of her rich blues background. Growing up with a musician father Raful Neal who passed in 2004 inspired her to love the blues and to help continue with the family legacy. Her father became an internationally known Baton Rouge blues man who has received many accolades in his career and was famous for playing the harmonica. Her love for music, her family name, and her background singing for many years has inspired her to launch her solo career in the music industry.
Charlene lives and work in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has three sons, Tyree, Johnell and Christopher Neal all of Baton Rouge. She was born in Erwinville, Louisiana in 1963 number 7 of 10 children to the union of Raful and Shirley Neal. It was never a dull moment in the Neal’s household. It was just a matter of time before Charlene began pursuing her own blues music career. She currently is a background singer for her oldest son Tyree Neal, the next Neal family generation of upcoming blues artist. Her son Tyree at the age of two was playing the harmonica on stage at the Baton Rouge Blues Festival. He has since gone on to master all instruments and has added songwriter to his credits. Charlene was a background singer for her soulful sister Jackie “Jazzy” Neal before her passing in 2005.
Charlene oldest brother Kenny Neal has taken the lead role in her family since the passing of her dad. He is an internationally famous guitarist with many accomplishments. Her other siblings are Larry, Raful “Lil Ray”, Noel, Darnel, Frederick Neal and her twin sister Darlene Neal-Williams. Gone but not forgotten her brother Ronnie Neal passed in 2004.
Charlene is very energetic, loves the blues, and loves her family and friends. Her first single “Zydeco Shake Down” has just been released.
