Album Notes

These 12 original compositions feature Charles Berman's guitar in settings that evoke a spectrum of moods. His rowdy electric guitar leads blues and bebop arrangements that suggest a jazz big band or organ trio. Brazilian sambas and a Scottish jig feature his acoustic guitar.

Carrying the influences of his favorite guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Joe Pass, Larry Carlton, and Pat Metheny, Berman was also strongly affected by innovators such as Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal, pianists Ahmad Jamal and Herbie Hancock, and the great jazz saxophonists of the fifties and sixties.

Charles Berman has performed with Rhythm and Blues greats the Cadillacs, and jazz artists such as Steve Swallow, Mark Helias, and Pheroan Aklaff. His work with Academy Award winning composer Donald Markowitz has appeared on TV shows such as Stephen Bochko's "Civil Wars", and Sci Fi Channel's "The Chronicle". In the Boston area, Berman performs with "The Frogs".

This CD features supporting performances from saxophonist Bennie Sharoni, bassist David Zox, and drummers Ken Hickey and Rocky Strempel.
