Charles Garris presents

It's Christmas

Charles Garris Chocolate City native, Shorty Corleone (Rare Essence, Body Snatchers) cleverly blends Hip-Hop and Go-Go in a soulful holiday tribute honoring the classics. Charles Garris presents ITS CHRISTMAS, a collaboration with musicians Earl Carter (Marcus Johnson, EU) on bass/lead guitar, Ju-Ju House (David Sanborne, Chaka Kahn, Doin’ Da Butt) on drums, Leroy “scooter” Taylor (Frankie Beverly, Rare Essence) on keyboards, Go-Go Mickey (Rare Essence, Chuck Brown) on congas, and introducing “the voice” of Charles Garris. This is NOT your grandmothers Christmas album! ITS CHRISTMAS is inspired by Curtis Mayfields’ Freddies’s Dead. Garris sings of a Christmas when “Men won’t be boys/playing with bombs like kids play with toys” in SOMEDAY AT CHRISTMAS. The classic FROSTY THE SNOWMAN describes Frosty as an “urban dude/who knew he was cool” over a classic Delfonics track. The socially conscious James Brown tribute, SANTA CLAUS GOES STRAIGHT TO THE GHETTO is filled with horn riffs that will undoubtedly add an extra kick to the holiday punch and party this year!
