Album Notes

Petals of Love Volume 2 Description
Charles Miller was a music teacher and later a computer technology teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. This is his second CD, "Petals of Love" volume two.

In this volume Charley rerecorded Hey, Hey and Gemini giving each a new fresh sound and modern lyrics. Gemini was done in a regae style after a dream about two suns shinning so bright that travelers in outer space can identify it as a navigational point of reference between this universe and others. Hey, Hey 2002 is a love song of a man enjoying the company of his wife and child at the beach.

"A Magic Moment" is love song telling the world how love should be valued and not wasted. Love is a blues song about a young man in a hot situation- a very, very feavorish moment in time when the body and the spirit is willing with the right woman as stimuli. Included on this volume also is an extended version of "Smile!" Charley theme song.

Petals of Love Volume Three
This 3rd CD includes a ragae song "I Get Around" a cute little song about a man who goes everywhere in the world--and not straight home to his loving family. This CD also features "Nature's Millionaire" a story about a man high on living and not about drugs--but about making himself a success! "Pretty Girl" is a ballad about a girl friend and her value to a man who loves and wants to keep her always in his life.

He is now very proud to present to the world, another CD that allow a person to party and dream, to think of a world where dreams can happen.

July 4 performance
author: Gwen Brown Rodgers
Written by freelance writer Gwendolyn Rodgers 07/04/04 Washington Park, Chicago was the place this past weekend, where Charles Miller and his band were performing a warm and stimulating act. After years of playing the piano and writing lyrics, Miller has released an exciting jazzy uptempo CD “PETALS OF LOVE.” For more than a decade, Charles Miller has traveled across the nation playing to audiences. The performer explains his love for a live audience is what keeps him going artistically. “The bottom line is my music is loaded with Folk and Jazz. I love the rhythms of Jamaica and the styles of Dennis Brown, Yellowman, Gregory Issac and Bob Marley. Their sounds are reggae and jazz in a sort of funny way. The roots of the music I play are deep in African Roots.” This is quite evident in the lovely lyrics. The voice is gentle and has wonderful range. As the guitar, piano, and flute weave and flow with Miller, the sounds they have created are real wide open. The songs echo and breathe under jazz hints. The members of his band are jazz performers and music teachers, including Charles Miller. The jazz backgrounds glue the vocals and the music. “Smile” is perhaps the signature piece on the CD, as it offers easy listening that is jazzed up, and wrestles with being a folk song and love ballad. The lyric is comforting, so sweetly to those who have gone through rough times. The other songs are passionate, high spirited, and worth listening to his sounds. Miller is composing some of the most rewarding music of his career with this CD. Furthermore, with the political atmosphere in full bloom, the singer eloquently darts around with tunes that echo love challenges, life struggles, the world being what it is, and the joys of women. The audience clapped loudly as the song “I Love Competition” roared through the speakers, with poetic verses as Miller danced around the stage and showed that he believes artists must strive to change human condition for the better through performance. Overall, the music experience with Charles Miller was new, refreshing, and fun.
