As we all may or may not know, Charlie Thomas has been a Drifter since 1958. He has sung on all of the Drifter Hits during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Charlie Thomas and Ben E. King are the only True Drifters still alive today. Just ask Charlie , and if he has time, he’ll tell you some of those great while on the road stories. Though he’s been a R&B Icon for a lot of years now, he’s still a everyday Joe. That’s one of the things that everyone loves about him. Let’s fast forward to the future, and check out the happenings now. Today’s group includes the following: Charlie Thomas born April 7,1937. He has been in show business for fifty years, first singing Gospel and a short stint with The Orioles, joined The Five Crowns then in 1958 The Drifters. Jerome Manning who Charlie found in a local club in York, Pa. singing Drifter songs. Steven Brown from York, Pa. who sang with the group Sunburst before joining The Drifters, and Louis Bailey also from York, Pa. The group today tours throughout the world as Charlie Thomas’ Drifters in order to be
distinquishable from the many fake groups claiming to be The Drifters.
