Charmaine is single, a mother of two beautiful daughters, an independent artist, and entrepreneur. Her debut entitled, Say You Love Me was her first solo effort since parting with Worl-A-Girl, the ‘90s dancehall girl-group with whom she first gained notoriety. Charmaine was an integral part of Worl-A-Girl's early success story having substantially penned most of the group's early hits including "I Can't Wait," "You That I Want," and "Jamaica Bobsled Chant", which was part of the Disney movie soundtrack for Cool Runnings. It is no surprise then that the level of the writing on this effort was outstanding as is DaCosta’s hallmark.
With Worl-A-Girl, Charmaine traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and United States as well as Japan, on various tours including Reggae Sunsplash and Japan Splash. They appeared on Late Night With David Letterman, The Arsenio Hall Show, BET's Teen Summit, MTV and Channel 13's What's the 411?, as well as numerous regional cable video shows. Charmaine has also been a guest host on WLIB radio with Bob Fredricks. The talented songstress holds a BA in English Literature, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society, Golden Key International Honor Society and recently obtained an MBA. When asked how she finds time and energy to do it all Charmaine's response is "I just do it. I make the time for what is important to me."
Now, DaCosta is on another musical mission, literally. She has turned in her dancehall boots and has produced a Christian CD that is to be lauded both in terms of content and quality. A Prayer is another great piece of written work from Charmaine DaCosta who believes her mission is to encourage those in need of a little love, compassion, and someone to say “I know what you are going through.”
Women will love this CD as there are so many songs that touch on their issue with the world and their faith. Christian singles will particularly identify with “Do You Know”. Ever found it difficult to pray? Then “This Letter” is just for you; feel isolated? “God in me” is the ticket.
Since A Prayer’s release in February, Charmaine has been doing promotional dates in New York but is getting ready to go into high gear for the fall with appearances planned in Jamaica, Florida and the Northeast United States.

What can I say?...other than the fact that my husband insisted that I get him his own copy!!! Charmaine your voice is so incredibly annointed by God; I feel the presence of the Lord just from listening to the samples. God has a plan for your voice. It will be heard, once again, across the nation and around the world! Please, promise me your first radio interview! I love you much Girl ~ Rock on in Jesus' name!!!
P.S. Thanks for agreeing to do the jingle for "Wake Up With Wendi"

I LOVE this CD! I have it already. Each song I've listened to touches a different emotion. I "relate" to so many of these songs in such a personal way. It's hard to pick a "favorite" from this CD, but I particularly like Shelter, and OH MY! . . . WITH ME ALWAYS!!!!-- that song is so soulful-sounding. I also like God in Me a lot. I can't say enough good things about this CD. It's my "Go-To-Chill" CD. Love it! Steph
