"Heroes And Villains" is the fifth release by The Charms. The band returned to legendary Detroit producer Jim Diamond (Von Bondies, Electric 6) to record five of the tracks and worked with Boston's own Paul Santo (Aerosmth, Ringo Starr) on the sixth. The results are a wonderful and fitting end to an era in which the band flourished as part of the new garage rock movement. "Heroes And Villains" with the inclusion of "How Can You Break A Heart" takes the band into new territory. Therefore this may the end, but its also the beginning.

Charms are Rock and Roll Heros

Stright off the heals of their "Strange Magic" CD comes "Heros and Villans" and if their last record saw them going into some new areas,H&V is back to basics. I love "Don't Let Me Down" It reminds me of the first time I saw them live;raw,powerfull and full of energy. How Can You Break a Heart sounds like Tina Turner meets Lena Lovich in some parts. Bizzare but it works.I think most fans have heard the radio friendly "The One That You Want" by now and it's only fitting that The Charms pay tribute to fellow Boston band,Aerosmith with a great version of "Sick as a Dog." Just like Aerosmith,Barry and The Remains,The Modern Lovers,J.Giles and scores of other bands that have spawned on the banks of the Charles, The Charms prove,there is something in that dirty water......
