When country performer Chas Collins steps on stage, it’s no secret why he is one of the sought after artists on the touring circuit today. Whether it’s his signature vocals, his high energy stage show, or watching the 6’ 6” cowboy step onto the dance floor to stir the crowd up even more, he makes it happen and people notice.
“Our clientele have raved about his performance, and have requested his return every time we have had him. He is one of the best performers I have ever seen,” said Bobby Pollard, entertainment coordinator for a recent venue. As a consequence, I have booked him several times in the near future.”
Chas was born and raised in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, where music was always a part of his life. He visited Nashville a few years ago to record his first CD at Magic Tracks Studio. Released in 2005, They Wanna Hang a Bad Boy sold just over 400 copies in the first few weeks. Then the hurricane it.
The remaining 600 copies of the CD were lost after Katrina, along with nearly everything Chas owned. But that didn’t stop him. It just made him work harder.
Determined to follow his dream, he headed for Nashville with nothing but a few changes of clothes and the money in his pocket. He put together his current band made up of talented musicians : Duane Greene (lead guitar, slide guitar, and b/g vocals), Dale Boudreaux (keys, piano, guitar and b/g vocals), Justin Cook (bass guitar and b/g vocals), and Rob Pate (drums and percussion).
These days, Chas is working harder than ever at doing what he loves. He covers his hard hitting originals, current country hits, and crowd pleasing favorites. He and his band are currently touring nationally.
“There is no doubt in my mind that a record deal is in the near future for this young country artist,” said producer Butch Johnson from Magic Tracks Studio. “He’s just good to be overlooked for long.”
