The descendant of one of America’s first Gypsies and the great grandson of a Vaudeville songwriter, Chase Hamblin was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was raised in Italy, France, and Singapore. His travels have taken him throughout Europe and Southeast Asia and from coast to coast across the US. Chase’s music channels many styles and influences from psychedelic folk and Texas swing to super pop and glam rock ‘n’ roll. His lyrics are thoughtful, poetic insights into the ills and the thrills of the human experience.
Chase has performed and toured as a solo artist and in several bands, most notably the critically acclaimed Penny Royal. With the break up of Penny Royal in 2008, Chase began work on his debut solo EP, A FINE TIME, with former Penny Royal front man Derek Dunivan as producer and arranger. A FINE TIME was recorded at the historic Sugar Hill Studios in Houston, TX and was independently released in June 2009. A FINE TIME ranked #5 on Power Pop Station Brasil’s Top 10 EPs of 2009 and #11 on Absolute Powerpop’s Top 15 EPs of 2009.
In 2010, Chase Hamblin and his band performed before thousands of people at the Free Press Houston Summer Fest, the Houston Press Music Awards Showcase, the Discovery Green, and as the hand-picked opening act for Roky Erickson's sold-out concert at the Continental Club in Houston, TX. Chase Hamblin was nominated "Best Male Vocals" 2010 in the Houston Press and is currently recording a new full length album, CAN YOU SEE THE BEAST?, at Sugar Hill Studios.
