Album Notes

Chas Hathaway has been playing piano for 14 years, and writing solo piano music for 13. Though he enjoys playing cover music, writing original pieces is his real passion.

Chas was once in a conversation with a friend, and they were talking about musical concepts, such as harmony and form. After mentioning the power of beat and rhythm, the friend asked Chas, \"In your opinion, what is the greatest musical factor in determining the influence of a song?\" Chas responded, \"The single greatest factor in determining the effect of a piece of music on people is the intent of the artist.\"

Chas has always felt that music must be uplifting and have a positive message if it is to have any lasting value. He feels that every piece of music has a message, and the greatness of a piece has more to do with the intent of the message than any musical factor.

Chas also enjoys playing a variety of cultural instruments, such as flutes, African drums, harmonicas, jaw harps, and didgeridoos. In addition to music, Chas enjoys writing, art, sculpting, inventing and playing games, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his wife and children.
