Great educators, talented musicians and engrossing entertainers, the Chaskis bring music from the Andes and Festive Dances evoking images of their Inca history. Their exciting chance to explore the colourful culture and autentic music from the Andes.
Instrumental, dance and craft workshops and slide and video viewing also recreate further glimpses of activities in their home villages.
They are young Indian adults coming from very important backgrounds, they have been playing as a musical group and working in grassrrots efforts in the Ecuadorian Andean mountains for approximately fifteen years.
They are dedicated to rescue and preserve the cultural, social and artistic values and traditions of the different ethnic groups of the Andes, they are professional musicians and craftman of instruments.
As a group with an important social and educational role to play in their own country, it is hoped that proceeds from this tour will help contribute to a continuation of the group's developmental work...
Pablo Cayambe Was born in Ecuador. At the young age of 10, Pablo began to teach himself to play the wind and string instruments of his heritage. He is a childhood friend of Duchicela group and fellow musician from Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, He is also one the four original members who founded the DUCHICELA Corporation, In Ecuador currently, Pablo is the principal indian flutes player for the group and he also performs charango and guitar.
He has traveled around the world playing music in South-America, U.S.A. Korea and Japan.
He was a member of "Duchicela" (andean music group) for 16 years, produced 6 compac disc and international tours for 15 years with them and more recently as a founded CHASKYS.
