Chastisement was a deathmetal band from Sweden. With one hour flying from Stockholm, the capital of Sweden you will end up in Östersund 600km north. 1995 Chastisement started playing seriously somewhere around 1995. Founders of Chastisement are Marcus Edvardsson and Fredrik Magnusson, both guitarists. Fredrik heard about this great drummer Nils and he joined the band shortly after being contacted. With a few changes in the line-up and great musical improvments we are proud to announce Chastisement of today. Johan Klitkou - Vocals Tommy Larsson - Guitar Marcus Edvardsson - Guitar Nicklas Linnes - Bassguitar Nils Fjellström - Drums 1997 A demo-tape was recorded and release in -97. 1999 Chastisement gained a lot of fans locally but it wasn’t until the release of their first official CD named …but lost we are in -99 everything exploded. Chastisement received a massive and almost overwhelming response from fans, labels and the press! Even though they where tempted to accept one of the many record-deals received they decided to wait. 2001 In the summer of 2001 the band took a break from gigs and rehearsal and entered the TLS AB studio. The full-length CD named Alleviation of pain consists of 13 new tracks which was released 2002-10-11. 2003 Chastisement inked a deal with the Enlish label Rage of Achilles to release the debut album 2004 Alleviation of pain was released by the english record label Rage of Achilles and the cd got even more great reviews. Rage of Achilles got bankruped and gave all the rights back to Chastisement who decided to give away the album as MP3’s for free. 2005 R.I.P. Chastisement lost interest in keeping the fight with record labels and decided quit. Some members can be found in other bands. Marcus is writing songs in Souldrainer where he plays guitar. Nils is playing drums for Aeon, In Battle, Sanctification and Dark Funeral. Nicklas is playing bass in Tavion and Paincraze

Here comes a death metal band hailing from Sweden who's drumming will surely blow your socks off! The music is good as well but lacks in a few areas such as creativity. I recommend this CD to anyone looking for straight forward death metal with melodic hooks and amazing drumming. Read more...
