Album Notes

Chata, born in to a large family of professional drummers, musicians, and dancers, has been performing since a young age. His father Tettey Kojo Addy, a much respected composer, drummer, and dancer in Ghana taught him as a boy.

"The Children" is a solo album in the traditional Ghanian style. CHATA ADDY play upbeat West African music from Ghana, blending traditional songs and a contemporary world beat sound. Chata Addy - lead vocalist and song writer uses a variety of instrumentation bringing plenty of energy to the stage.

His joy in sharing what he does comes through in his rapport with the audience. He plays music, which Chata calls, Afro-Reggae and Funky Highlife, that makes people want to dance! Whether Chata is singing in his native language Ga or in English, listeners understand that he just wants everyone to move to the music. Susuma which means "soul" in Ga is the essence of the good vibes.

Chata has recorded with King Sunny Ade and performed with I.K. Daro, Jimmy Cliff, and The Mathalian Queens. among others.
