Fun, grave dancing music that isn't afraid to wake the dead drunk.
author: Ben Ohmart
The best song is 'Angel', and it starts up an hour's worth of dark-rooted rock/pop that often skirts the waters of Roger Waters and all things rock-funky. The ending 'Mary' swirls and looms up into the darkness for over 10 minutes, making you think you're drowning in another country when there are no tourists around to help you. This 4-strong band is from Italy, and it's amazing how well they'd fit into the USA, given a fifth of a chance. Not to harp on it, but 'Angel' really rocks, and it ain't church music. 'I can fly / I can hover in the sky / Feelin' wild like an eagle dancing high / I can't stop now baby, I don't wanna go back to the ground / I like to be out of my head / I'm crossing the line' but if you only speak Italian, don't worry. Every cd page gives you the English and the Italian both. Makes you feel part of a great import that way, eh? Wild guitar marks the entrance of 'Devil's On My Side', spruced up with hot drums and bass that actually directs you there. 'I broke away / from that jail last night / I killed the jailer / wiped out the wall and now I feel alright'. Do they mean wiped out or wiped off? You won't much care when the rock takes you. Fun, grave dancing music that isn't afraid to wake the dead drunk. Rock, or the
hard stuff. But every once in a while they'll calm a minute, like to give the electrically acoustic 'Crazy Hurricane' a chance to burn itself out. As if sung by a guy in the basement keeping his insane self amused while the storm thrashes outside. 'The sun was fadin' out / the wind was fallin' down / a sudden wave of silence breakin' all the noise around / You sat down for a while / you looked up to the sky / you saw a crazy hurricane comin' up from nothing' and eventually the pent up emotions, guitar and pissed-beat drums dredge up out of the water and try to electrify. Not quite in the direction of Kiss. More like the alley behind the bar, not afraid to go in, just finding more to shout against out here in the thunder and rain.
