Album Notes

Everybody knows that the Cheepskates were great singers and songwriters and that their studio output was always stellar. What people forget is that on the right night they could be an incredible live band, and the performance captured on Waiting For Ünta was indeed the right night. Recorded live in Berlin at their peak with Lane Hollend in the lineup on "right guitar", this CD reminds one of the Kinks' Live at Kelvin Hall... a mad rush through a great set that begins normally and becomes a party. Lots of originals, lots of covers and no overdubs (listen to Watch Her Go - the bass is missing throughout most of the song!). The live Cheepskates were tougher sounding than their studio output would indicate, and they played these songs like their lives depended on it. This is a fun album that'll make you dance... turn it up!
