REVIEWS

Great Live Band!!!
author: Tim Fox
I saw Chef Chris and his Nairobi Trio for the first time at the Anti Freeze Blues fest in the Detroit area earlier this month; they were the talk of the fest. I had been curious about them from the many write-ups and reviews that I had read about them, so I had to see them. Let me tell ya they didn't let me down. When Chef Chris took the stage everyone in the room including me was just mesmerized he has a commanding stage presence and the most interesting voice, he can shout like Joe Turner, growl like Tom Waits, and moan like Howlin Wolf! Then out of nowhere he has this pleading little falsetto that just catches you off guard…he’s the Cybill of the blues!! Oh and he also plays a mean harp with tons of gusto. I bought this CD at the fest and have been listening to it every since, I can’t get enough of it, if I were in a band it would be a Chef Chris and his Nairobi Trio cover band! If you like the blues then get this CD and the “Ruff Cuts” the bands other CD, they may be different, but I’m sure Howlin’ Wolf was different when he got started!

Great CD

This Cd is RAW and I love it!! Not only can Chef Chris blow the harp, but he sings like he's on the edge of a heart attack. You gotta respect a band that has the balls to record The Baby Elephant Walk on a blues record
