Mallku, meaning “Condor” in Quechua, is the title of the flagship song as well as the name of the record. Guest musician Fernando Barragán, well known as one of the best Andean wind instrument players of the Southern Cone has co-composed with Navvaro, this harmonically challenging piece. Fernando Barragán has dedicated this song to Mallku his son, who has the same name as the song. The chromatic sikus are used in this piece in most of its range of possibilities. Fernando Barragán, plays an intricate duet of chromatic sikus with Chehébar on the flute, in "Mallku".
Also in this album are two versions of Andean pieces the kantu, "Corti Poncho", and "Macchu Picchu". There are 2 pieces by Navarro created based on other pieces: "Un siku para Juan Sebastian" (A siku for Johann Sebastian") is a melody for the siku that floats over the Johan Sebastian Bach Prelude Nº 1; and "Dulce Koto" (Sweet Koto) that floats over the traditional Japanese melody "Sakura", inspired and dedicated to a beautiful Japanese woman. Guest musicians include Fernando Barragán on winds and Jorge Bustamente on charango and guitar.
