Cheryl Hodge has a series of FREE COMPANION vocal lessons to this book (& mp3s) on website bearing her name. She has been teacher to many fine students; including pop icons Grammy winner Paula Cole, Juno winner Frazee Ford, and Canadian Idol finalist, Alyssa Klazek. Cheryl has recorded vocals on tons of recording projects; including all female tracks on 1990 Atco Records debut album of the year with "The Raindogs". She's got several rave reviews in her more recent incarnation as a jazz singer, from critics (see "Indigo" - her recent release - right here on CDBaby). She graduated from and taught at Berklee College of Music (voice faculty for 8 years), where she taught such lumineries as Paula Cole. Eventually, she made the move to lovely Nelson, B.C., Canada; where she has been the head of the Selkirk College Vocal Department for 18 years. Her jazz choir won the prestigious Jazz Vocal Group College Award in 1999 at the Moscow, Idaho International Jazz Fest.
Throughout North America, & Canada, Cheryl Hodge has made her mark as a performer, vocalist, adjudicator, clinician & author. Hodge is a gifted pianist and isn't afraid to visit the outer stretches of "scatting" territory. Her first love, however remains (and most likely forever will be...) composing.
Hodge has co-written & performed alongside: John Stowell (whom she recently co-wrote an album of originals with), Hugh Fraser; and performed with Dee Daniels, & countless others. There are annual tours which include jazz festivals, clinics and club performances. Most recently, Hodge is celebrating the release of a new "best of" compilation of originals; called, "Cheryl Hodge: Original Article", available through CDBaby.com, and her website,
