"God & Country" is a collection of hymns and patriotic music by Cheryl Peach. Gospel music legend Stephen Hill sings haromony vocals on sixteen of the songs, in addition to three duets with Cheryl Peach.
Cheryl Peach sings three duets with Stephen Hill who also plays acoustic guitar; namely on, Precious Memories, Standing in the Need of Prayer, and Jesus Loves Me. These duets were recorded live to give a church coffeehouse feel.
Seventy-five minutes of music are packed onto just one compact disc for God & Country. Cheryl Peach displays her classical training as she belts out a stirring rendition of God Bless America reminiscent of a concert at the Jefferson Memorial. Stephen Hill matches Cheryl’s classical voice on Holy, Holy, Holy as well as on It is Well to provide church choir harmony vocals. Similarly, the reverberating sound of the Lord’s Prayer and Ave Maria is like being seated with the congregation at the National Cathedral. During Fairest Lord Jesus, Sweet Hour of Prayer, as well as Softly and Tenderly, Cheryl Peach captures a light, high soprano singing style similar to Sandi Patty. While on What a Friend We Have In Jesus, and I Love to Tell the Story Cheryl Peach uses an alto range for adult cotemporary/MOR styling like Anne Murray and Debby Boone. Yet, it’s a flashback to the Old Time Gospel Hour on How Great Thou Art, and In the Garden thanks to Stephen Hill’s masterful southern gospel harmony vocals.
