Flash! Our Christmas Festival of Harmony is Sat. Dec. 13th at 7:00 PM at the United Church of Christ - Keene!
The Monadnock Region is rich with cultural and artistic entities. For guys who like to sing, opportunities abound; pick your genre and there is probably a local group that’s just right for you. For many men in the region, the Cheshiremen Chorus is just right for them. The Cheshiremen offer a unique vocal experience of high-caliber a cappella singing in a fraternal organization setting. Guys of all ages, from all backgrounds and with all musical experiences come together each week to learn how to sing and perform better. They come for the opportunity to improve their skills, to express themselves vocally and to have a blast with 70 like-minded guys.
To many, barbershop conjures up images of four men dressed in funny costumes singing corny tunes of a by-gone era. Today’s barbershop is vibrant and diverse; choruses and quartets routinely perform music from 40’s swing, 50’s doo-wop, hits from the 60’s, 70’s 80’s 90’s and contemporary offerings. While we haven’t abandoned our roots (you’ll still hear some tunes from Tin Pan Ally), our repertoire has expanded to include songs from The Turtles, The Beatles, The Platters, Elton John, Josh Groban and many, many more artists from more recent generations.
The Cheshiremen have been the fastest growing barbershop chapter in our district for the last two years while at the same time becoming one of the district’s most musically talented choruses. Our thriving quartet program has created abundant opportunities for guys who would like to experience the thrill of joining their voice with three other guys. Our family-friendly environment provides settings for the entire family to enjoy. If you are a guy that likes to sing, wants to learn to sing better, make new friends and have a blast doing it, I would invite you to come check us out.
