Album Notes

Chester River Runoff have been riding in Old Brown for years, flying just below the radar of widespread attention, but staying alive thanks to the support of loyal fans. We’ve been maced on stage, threatened with arrest for vagrancy, forced out the back door with instruments in hand by bar brawls, and enjoyed by audiences of 4 and 400 in sweaty pizza joints, theaters, parties, bars, festivals, weddings, and anyplace else where somebody would listen.
Friends and fans have been asking for years when we would make a studio album, but we were hesitant to record, preferring to wait to put out something that felt complete and representative. When the time came, our engineer, Philip Stevenson, came down to record the basic instrumental tracks live in Ben's living room, the same room where the band was born in 2004. For the basic tracks, there were no overdubs, no punching in, no editing whatsoever. The vocals and additional instruments were overdubbed on a 1-inch 8 track tape machine at Philip's Night World Recording in Potomac, MD over the following year.

We hope you like the album, it represents the band at a particular place in its history. To hear where we are now, you need to see us live .
