i remember one night at the old dewdrop inn when bubba asked over the p.a. if anyone had any requests? from the back of the club came the retort "yeah, play somewhere else!" so with that in mind, we paid steven king to pen a few words about the chevy ford band...
"remember that burning, stinging sensation a few hours after that habeneros sammich? those beads of sweat that miraculously appear on your earlobes and snout? such is the similarity with the music of the chevy ford band. you will remember sounds, smells and sights you never thought you even had with the imagery and sonic waves this music will stir. in a short phrase, this stuff will rok-u-haus and have you wishing you had followed that sammich with some ice cream!" now as to the tracks richard murrey penned on this platter...

"no apologies"... the title cut deals with the inner feelings about the music business in general... how the commercially oriented, money-grubbing, song factories always say that he needs to re-write or do it this way or that way or whichever way is the "musik d'jour". not... and he makes no apologies about it either with an uptempo bluesy romp.

"y'all swallow this"... reflects how the spin doctors in our society tell us what to think and how to act... oh so subtle they are in the machinations of the mind. murrey puts the finger right on it with this grinding riff-tune... it kicks.

"valentine"... a straight forward love song for the holiday caressed in a saucy rhythm of latin minor sevenths... good to rub belt buckles.

"blindman in the sun"... an analogy of vision and blindness... more of the heart than the eyes, layered on to a traditional southern rock riff garden.

"call me your lover"... sometimes it doesn't matter what she thinks of you as long as you know you can take her places she ain't never been... rockin' it out.

"evil kneivel of heartbreak"... what some men won't do for women... the analogy to the daredevil spirit... it's all rock 'n roll ain't it?

"user friendly"... being used by a woman can have it's ups and downs... and cause one to ponder exactly who's being used... speakin' of the blues.

"big mama"... sharing the love of another with someone else might just lead to complications... they get spoiled you know.

"island girl"... the thong, the tides, the sunset, the pina coladas, the twinkle in her eye... yeah, you know ya wanna stay with her.

"fut the shuck up"... a twisted favorite retort to the vapid, insipid, fear-mongering hollow commentary the "news" passes off as something you should take seriously... lies and nothing but.

    User Friendly, should be a hit but the big guys probably won't give it a chance so tell all your friends! Great song!

    "No Apologies" CD starts with a more bluesy feel. Opening and title track, "No Apologies", is an explanation of Chevy's attitude towards his life and music, 'I make no apologies, I'm not gettin down on my knees, i'm not playing the game, I don't need them to approve, they don't understand the groove, there's nothing I will remove'. Track 2, "Ya'll Swallow This", features a ripping solo from Ford. Track 7, "User Friendly" starts with a slow blues feel, and then jumps in a cut time blues shuffle. Our favorite track is "Island Girl" - Ford weaves single coil hollow distorted single lines with a beautiful island minor progression.
