an earlier collection of country-oriented tunes, penned by richard murrey in the late 90's, while still in the mountains of california, big country, wide-open spaces, air that energized the core, good-livin' times and good hearted people with memories for a thousand songs. the muse was working full-time there... the imagination was working overtime. murrey decided to pull these tunes out, polish a few rough edges with producer steven cooper. enjoy.
"sierra wind"... torn between the love of being free in the open country and the possibility that a woman might actually be interested in him, a cowboy has some tough decisions to make.
"feel like a lady"... beneath the exterior of corporate armor and masks, a woman still needs to be a lady.
"there's more where that came from"... whether confrontations are physically painful or emotionally rewarding, you got to have a reserve tank.
"no permanent damage"... sometimes love can make your body forget it's got to mind itself.
"kentucky honey"... soldier leaving his girl, a universal song but it's different in kentucky.
"friends"... they come in all descriptions and functions and shapes, sizes, colors, orientations, spread all over the place... but they're still your friends.
"why can't this be last night"... ever had one of those evenings you wish could've never ended. it only ended because of "time", so what if you could time travel and turn back the clock?.
"oh mama"... the little one says daddy done runned off and joined a country band whilst mama was haulin' 18 wheels over the road!.
"who do you know"... do you ever really know someone in the dating game? just calling it as i seez it.
"just enough"... maybe he doesn't feel like he's good enough for her because she's so worldly or "edjamacated", but he's doing "just enough" to keep her interested!.
"promises"... growing up in dysfunctional home can give a little boy ideas about how to treat a woman... either keep doing what you lived or vow to change it. a story from thousands of american homes.
"3 squares & cable t.v."... lot's of folks having some bad breaks, but the justice system only seems to promote behaviors in a negative way... this is a tongue-in-cheek look at the logic employed.
"i was blinded"... her beauty is all you can see and you make a fool of yourself over it... meanwhile one with inner beauty stands aside and shows you real love.
"the wrong side of the bar"... the working man, the tarbender... always in the wrong place at the wrong time... can't outlast all the other predators at the bar, but it's not all bad.
"tears in heaven"... a spoken narrative story of how the stars in the universe were made.
