Remarkable for its inventiveness, musicality, great tunes and solid grooves.

This Brooklyn-based band should feel great about this CD, which just gets better with every listen. Every cut is good and some are extraordinarily inventive as well as solidly rocking. The oddball elements, such as the vaguely Middle Eastern sounding instrumental number, work perfectly in making this CD a satisfying meal rather than a junkfood pig out. I especially loved the blending of voices. The lead singer, Sarah Trimpe, doesn't rely on vibrato or trick trills to get the song across. She has a pure, straight-up voice that is a pleasure to hear. And the violin is a great fit with the eclectic style of the band's music, most of it apparently written by Sarah's brother, Alex. Favorite cuts: "Even Albatross Wept" and "Plagued by Bad Sound."
