Chigger Red is one hell of a rock and roll band. From the bands L.A. club scene roots to national indie and now a major label distributed act (Sony Music Germany). Chigger Red is wideley recognized as the band to watch for if you are a fan of real rock n roll.
Founded in 1998 by southern raised brothers Michael and Chris Stansberry and longtime friend and Chilean native Leo Cuevas CR has recieved accolades and awards from all over the world.
CR's music is one part blues one part southern rock with a fine blend of boogie and hard rock...Think of the music as country music for rock music fans. CR has just released its 3rd CD "The Hard Road " in 2003 which promises to be one of the finest R n R albums released in a long time.As Michael B. Smith editor of Gritz magazine wrote "Chigger Red is like having a 220 volt taped to your nads...makes me want to stand on my desk and play air guitar!!
Ya'll can find all the CR CD's right here at CD Baby!

Blues Hard Rock with a DC topping!

This is the jewel in the CR crown! The previous two cd's were warm ups for this. Style wise, the lads haven't changed - it's still a Skynyrd, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Thorogood hybrid - but the songs are more classy, and double tracking of the vocals in the decidely catchier chorus'. Mike Stansberry seems to have given greater thought to his vocals with quality results. This is proper rock n roll as my mate Jimmy Bollox would say. Hangover Hotel is a fine start to the album and the quality continues all the way through. Running On Fumes & F*cked Up In Vegas are the jewels in this crown, with the last track That's A Crazy Bitch, closing the whole shebang in a DC Powerage style vibe. Now get your ass over to the UK lads!!

Chigger Red doesn't give a rat's ass about trends, fads or anything like that. They care about Rock N' Roll, that's why we need to support bands like this every chance we get. With their third release, "The Hard Road", they continue to crank out bad-ass boogie down Rock N' Roll with no apologizes. The major advancement from their last record is the song-writing and their improved hooks and and catchy choruses. This doesn't mean they've gotten more pop oriented, it simply means the tunes stick in your head better.
Mike Stansberry continues to smoke on the frets as he has before. He really has a "Billy Gibbon" style of playing on this one, even though the music is closer to a Black Crowes album. One could really throw out all the comparisons, it's down n' dirty Rock N' Roll, heavy on the bluesy side.
One of the most appealing things about this band is their accesibility. They aren't trying to talk over your head. They're talking about partying, relationships and life in general. You don't have to be from L.A. or New York or the Deep South to "get it", it's about as strait-forward as it gets. In a world where bands like Tool are so fuckin' deep you need a shovel to find meaning, Chigger Red spells it out... life's a bitch, then you marry one.
"Fucked Up In Vegas" and "That's A Crazy Bitch" are the standouts for my personally. "High Society" and "Whole Lotta Women" are right in there. Fans of the blues will dig "White Line Blues" and for your softer side, "'Till I Die" is a great acoustic based track that brings a tear to your eye.
Chigger Red is keeping Classic Rock alive, there's no other way to put it. They know what they are and they know what they're doing. They have made great strides from their previous work and I expect they will continue to be the hard-working band that they appear to be. Guys, here's one for ya.. Cheers!
